Year 5’s Art Work!

The Year 5 classes have been researching the work of the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo who was a famous Italian painter. He is best known for creating paintings which used fruits, vegetables, books, animals and other objects to represent people. The children made detailed sketches of fruit and vegetables and then worked to create a sculpture using clay. Each piece was then painted carefully and used to form a unique representation of the artist’s work which was a portrait of Rudolf II of Habsburg and is called ‘Rudolf II of Habsburgas Vertumnus’ and was painted in 1591.
